How to get ebay to generate rss feeds (official ones)

I spent a little time today playing around with eBay's affiliate program and discovered how to get eBay to generate an RSS feed. You would think that eBay would be falling head first to offer this service to everyone. There are plenty of sites out there that scrape eBay (some several years old!), but eBay really should be offering this service. I would trust eBay's RSS over some site that scrapes as they might miss some content and eBay's RSS might be faster to update. So it was neat when I discovered that by entering my affiliate account into the normal eBay search page the results page contained a RSS link.

Disclaimer: As it is my affiliate account id that is in the generated links, I do get some small amount if you bid on an item and win, but hey that is cool too. So without further adu, here is how you can get an official eBay RSS feed:

  1. Go to the eBay Advanced Search page.

  2. Enter your search that you want to see in the RSS feed

  3. In the "Affiliate Tracking Information" click Show, choose Commission Junction, and enter 2059054 in the affiliate tracking information box.

  4. click submit

Poof now the page has an rss link embedded that can be added to your favorite feed viewer.

Here is a feed for KDE books on ebay.

update:
After a more carfull review I realize that eBay will always do this now. The fact that it didn't in the past and the wording "Adding affiliate tracking information generates RSS feeds" led me off course.
